“when i first came to visit Japan, i was surprised by this empty space between buildings….this space sometimes contains elements which contrast with the relatively clean external environment , it is not rare to find a bicycle, ashtray, chairs and toys for children. From these elements ,imagination gets the upper hand and we imagine another invisible life”

” we must know that the symbol of the sun is profoundly anchored in Japanese history and culture……the symbol of the sun can be found not only on the Japanese flag but everywhere. What is fascinating is this obvious contradiction,Japanese people honour the sun but are disgusted and running away from it! This is what i wanted to highlight, this astonishment that we can feel when we are not used to seeing sun umbrellas”

” i hope that this series, these “Japanese chronicles” will give a different vision of Japan, a repertory of images completely different from what we can see from a tourist guide or a blog dedicated to a Japan trip”
